Gua Sha massage

What Is Gua Sha?

The ancient Chinese healing technique has been around for a very long time, and it was originally used to help in the treatment of viruses and heat stroke. This technique is also grounded in the foundations of chi, which is an energy that flows through the body. It's believed that this energy needs to continue to flow through the body for optimal health. Stagnant chi is believed to be the cause of pain and inflammation in the body. The Gua Sha technique consists of using a flat jade or rose quartz stone and scraping it along the sides of the face.

What Are Benefits Of Gua Sha?

The use of a Gua Sha tool helps to promote energy flow and lymphatic drainage (can help you stay healthy on the inside and out) while boosting circulation and relaxing the facial muscles to sculpt the jawline and contour the face. The other cosmetic benefits of this treatment include improving skin firmness, elasticity & tone while reducing fine lines & wrinkles.

How To Use A Gua Sha Tool:

  • Cool tool by placing it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before use or storing it there to help reduce puffiness; or heat the stone by soaking it in warm water to help improve circulation

  • Apply a serum or facial oil to your entire face (more than you would usually apply) and optionally, apply a facial mist before using the tool for optimal glide

  • Always work upward in one direction starting with the neck to get that "facelift" look

  • The pressure applied to the skin should be gentle to avoid causing any kind of bruising
